Go van Gogh School Outreach
If you love working with children, have a passion for art, and want to give back to Dallas schools, Go van Gogh is the volunteer program for you! Go van Gogh school outreach volunteers lead experiences in Dallas elementary classrooms that encourage students to practice visual literacy and critical thinking by looking closely at works of art and express creativity through art-making activities. School year programs are 60 minutes in length and consist of an interactive presentation, anchored by artworks in the Museum's collection, followed by an art-making activity. Programs are scheduled on weekday mornings at schools across Dallas. Volunteers are asked to teach at least two programs per month from late September to mid-May. Previous experience teaching or working with youth is strongly recommended for all Go van Gogh volunteers.
Interested volunteers must attend training sessions at the DMA in August and September. All Go van Gogh volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and must undergo a two-part screening process including free DISD volunteer registration and a background check through Verified Volunteers.

Docents
A vital part of the School Programs team, DMA docents support the Education Division’s mission of facilitating meaningful experiences for visitors of all ages. Docents conduct weekly tours of the Museum’s collection and exhibitions for groups of visitors ranging from elementary school students to adult visitors. The knowledge and teaching strategies for conducting tours in the Museum’s galleries are accumulated over a yearlong training program consisting of lectures, gallery talks, and workshops led by staff and outside experts.
We seek lifelong learners who have a desire to encourage learning, foster creativity, and create memories, bringing art and visitors together. A degree in art history is not required. Spanish-English bilingual skills are helpful, but not required. Due to the substantial investment in training, we ask that all new docents commit to remaining in the program for a minimum of two years.
Each docent is required to lead two one-hour tours per week, Tuesday–Friday, throughout the school year, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Docents have the option to continue touring in the summer. All docents attend regularly scheduled Monday training sessions September–May to continue learning about the Museum’s collection, exhibitions, and best practices in museum education.

Teen Ambassadors
Formerly the DMA Teen Docent program, the Teen Ambassador program provides opportunities for high school students to initiate and deepen their relationship with the DMA. Teen Ambassadors lead summer family programs and gallery activities for young visitors (ages 5–12). Family programs range from drop-in art-making activities in the Center for Creative Connections to Family Storytime in the galleries.

Teen Advisory Council
The Teen Advisory Council, or TAC for short, is a group of highly motivated young people who help shape the direction of how the Museum engages with youth audiences. Members of the council develop innovative interdisciplinary programming for Museum visitors of all ages, and serve as ambassadors for the Museum to the community. Being a TAC member is an opportunity to develop leadership, project management, and hands-on facilitation skills, as well as work directly with museum professionals. Teen Advisory Council members commit to attending two Thursday evening planning meetings a month and volunteering at hosted events at least once a month from September through July.

Community Programs
If you enjoy working with people of all ages, have a passion for art, and want to help the DMA increase access to arts programming across the city, Community Programs is the volunteer opportunity for you!
DMA Community Programs amplify the voices and creativity of our city by increasing equitable access to the arts through collaborations with local organizations, area artists, and Dallas communities. Bilingual or multiple-language skills are considered an asset, but are not required. Volunteers must be able to lift 25 lbs., possess a valid driver's license, and have transportation to off-site events. Volunteers should plan to assist with four programs per quarter and remain in the program for a period of one year. All Community Programs volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and must undergo a background check through Sterling Volunteers.

Center for Creative Connections (C3)
We seek applicants who enjoy engaging with the public! Volunteers with the Center for Creative Connections (C3) greet visitors, answer visitor questions, and provide information on the Museum's collection, programs, and activities. Volunteers also facilitate interactive educational experiences for visitors of all ages, which often include conversations with visitors about works of art and hands-on creative activities. In addition, volunteers help with the general upkeep of C3 by organizing and maintaining gallery spaces and preparing program and activity supplies. You must be at least 18 years of age and we require all volunteers to commit to remaining in the program for a minimum of one year. In addition to a mandatory orientation, volunteers have the opportunity to attend training sessions throughout the year to learn about C3 updates. Volunteers are expected to work two shifts per month with both weekday and weekend opportunities available.

Adult Programs
The Adult Programs team is seeking volunteers to engage visitors and help facilitate programs such as Pop of Art, Late Night, talks, and Make & Take. Adult Programs volunteers will provide instructional support in the Art Studio, set up and maintain studio spaces, hand out printed materials, scan tickets, and answer visitor questions during events. Arts & Letters Live
Arts & Letters Live is a literary and performing arts series for all ages that features award-winning authors and performers of regional, national, and international acclaim. The series is recognized for its creative multidisciplinary programming—combining literature with visual arts, music, and film—and for commissioning new work from musicians, dancers, and poets, inspired by works of art in the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions.
Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer for this program and able to stand for long periods of time. All Arts & Letters Live volunteers are required to sign up for a minimum of four programs and must work at least three book signings per season. All volunteers will receive complimentary parking in the DMA garage and free admission to selected programs.
Program dates and times vary and will occasionally be located offsite.
