Visitor Guidelines

  • Effective Friday, October 29, 2021, face coverings are no longer required indoors for fully vaccinated visitors and staff; however, face coverings are recommended to maximize protection from the Delta variant per CDC guidance.

  • Visitors must have a general admission ticket for entry.

  • Photography without a flash is allowed in the galleries unless otherwise indicated. To protect the artwork, tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are not allowed.

  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere in the DMA, including outdoor Museum spaces, the DMA parking garage, and in front of the entrances.

  • Outside food and drink are not permitted in the DMA galleries, in the DMA Cafe, or at Socca. Visitors may bring picnics to eat on the lawn of Eagle Family Plaza, in the Sculpture Garden, and in Fleischner Courtyard. Please be considerate of those around you, and keep personal belongings, feet, and legs off seating. Outside alcohol and glass containers are prohibited.

  • Sketchbooks and pencils (no other art supplies) are permitted in the galleries.

  • For safety and health reasons, visitors should wear attire appropriate to a public facility, including shoes and shirts.

  • Please do not touch any work of art, including outdoor sculptures. When visiting the galleries with small children, please maintain supervision.

  • Fragile objects are often placed behind Plexiglas or ropes. Please refrain from touching the Plexiglas casing. If you see tape on the floor near a work of art, the tape indicates how far away you should stand from the object. A good general rule is to stand at least three feet away from a work of art.

  • For outside spaces:

    • Pets on a leash are allowed on Ross Avenue Plaza and Eagle Family Plaza. Please clean up after your pet.

    • Sports equipment, including soccer balls, footballs, and Frisbees, are not permitted on Eagle Family Plaza or in the Museum's outdoor gallery spaces. The use of bicycles, skateboards, and rollerblades is prohibited except on perimeter sidewalks.

    • Please keep the Eagle Family Plaza clean. Place all recyclables and waste in the appropriate receptacles.

We appreciate your help in protecting the art for future generations to enjoy.

As a public museum, we reserve the right to use photography of any individual in our education or promotional materials displayed in print or on the internet.
